Sling DVR and Unlimited DVR
The first thing to note is that the DVR storage that comes with your Sling subscription is not going away. You’ll still get 50 hours of free DVR and store your freebies for up to nine months on Sling’s cloud servers. Sling will give you a nice warning a month that your program’s storage life is about to expire, as well as clearly telling you how much storage you have. When something you have stored is about to disappear, you won’t be able to miss it. On top of this, you’ll also get an additional 10 hours of Freestream DVR with a 30-day expiry, allowing you to check out live programming at a time that suits you.
And while this is all very generous, the big upgrade is getting unlimited DVR. This service removes the 50-hour limit (and the previous 200-hour limit for the paid service) for cloud DVR. You’ll still need to view the saved schedule within nine months, but you’re free to let your accumulation stretch as long as you like.
