Foldable phones are great, but one crucial aspect that makes buyers doubt whether they should spend so much on a new device is their weak resistance against the elements. Take the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6which is rated at IP48, good enough only for basic water immersion. Furthermore, it is not dust-proof either.
Oppo’s impending foldable phone – and also OnePlus’s, for that matter – will be rugged enough to take into the bath, shower, or even the occasional underwater video capture session. It has been officially confirmed that Oppo’s next one, called Find N5, offers full grade IPX6, IPX8 and IPX9 waterproofing.

In addition to updating the ingress protection of its upcoming foldable phone, Oppo is finally fixing another big mistake: wireless charging support, and in a pretty emphatic way, too.
The Oppo Find N5 will offer support for 50W wireless charging, matching the OnePlus 13and far surpassing what Apple or Samsung have to offer in their flagship phones. The phone’s chassis is made of titanium, matching the approach Apple introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro due to the superior strength and heat dissipation virtues of the metal.
Oppo will launch the Find N5 next month and, building on the brand’s close historical ties with its sister brand, the next OnePlus open 2 Most likely a renamed version of the first one. As far as the design language is concerned, Oppo is once again going for a square format for the foldable inner panel, while the display on the outer cover also retains its pocket-sized format.
Notably, it wasn’t just the fantastic hardware that made the Oppo and OnePlus devices some of the best foldable devices out there. The two companies also did a fantastic job optimizing the software for a big-screen Android experience.
The Open Canvas system, in particular, remains one of the best multitasking implementations of split-screen apps out there, even better than what Apple has to offer with iPadOS on its expensive tablets.
